Job Title: Yarn Guru
Location: The Orry Mill Eaglesham, G76.
Hours: Part-time, initially 2 days per week 10am to 16:00.
Weekend working required.

Job Overview
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Yarn Guru to join our team. As a Yarn Guru, you'll be the first point of contact for our customers, helping to make our store a go-to destination for all things knitting, crochet, and fibre arts. While prior retail experience is not required, a passion for yarn and knitting is essential. Full training will be provided on our systems and processes.
Responsibilities

Provide a warm, friendly customer experience, sharing your love of crafting.

Assist customers in finding patterns, colour matching, and fibre selection based on their needs.

Help customers understand and troubleshoot knitting and crochet patterns—confidence in assisting with common issues is required, but training will be provided.

Merchandise stock on the shop floor, ensuring products are attractively displayed.

Unpack, check, and shelve incoming stock.

Light cleaning duties

Maintain a welcoming and organised shop environment.

Answer customer inquiries via online chat, email, or messages—training on our communication tools will be provided.

Assist in processing and managing online orders—training will be provided.

Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system—full training and onboarding will be given.
Qualifications
Essential Skills:
✔ Must be an avid knitter (crochet experience desirable but not essential) with confidence in reading patterns and helping customers troubleshoot common issues.
✔ Basic PC skills (e.g., ability to use email, browse online stores, and learn new systems).
✔ Basic arithmetic to help calculate yarn usage against projects and patterns.
✔ Strong customer service skills—enthusiastic and approachable.
Training Provided:
✔ Using the POS (Point of Sale) system for in-store transactions.
✔ Managing online orders and customer messages.
✔ Merchandising and stock management.
✔ Understanding our specific yarn and fibre selection.
✔ Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus but not required.
