Sunday is a fingering weight (2-ply weight) 100% merino yarn, typically used on 3mm needles and popular for garments, shawls and baby knitting. Double Sunday uses the same 100% non-superwash merino fibre but is spun to a DK weight, making it better suited to quicker-knit garments and accessories. Both yarns share the same excellent stitch definition and Scandinavian colour palette — Double Sunday simply knits up at a faster gauge.

Yes — Sunday is particularly well regarded for stranded colourwork. The smooth, round plied strand grips the needles slightly, which helps maintain even tension across multiple colours. The crisp stitch definition means individual stitches read clearly in the finished fabric, making colourwork motifs sharp and well-defined. Many Scandinavian designers, including PetiteKnit, use Sunday as their go-to yarn for stranded garments specifically for these reasons.

Peer Gynt is Sandnes Garn's oldest yarn — in production since 1938 — and is spun from 100% Norwegian wool in a DK-weight 4-ply construction. It is best known for its use in traditional Norwegian kofte sweaters and hardwearing everyday garments, particularly for children and men. Norwegian wool is naturally durable, pill-resistant and grows softer with wear and washing. Peer Gynt is not superwash treated, so hand washing or a gentle wool cycle is recommended.

Sandnes Garn is available in the UK through specialist yarn retailers.
