Orry Yarn Kickstarter is LIVE!
Backing our project now on Kickstarter means you are supporting us in advance of the launch in March 2026. We have lots to do, from knitting up our designs in our new yarn to testing the patterns are clear and concise, and ensuring the yarn is of the highest quality. If you buy now, you will be the first to recieve our yarn bundles in Spring. Importantly you will have helped us manufacture a brand new product line made in the UK and based in Eaglesham, Scotland.
ALSO...as an early backer, you get the yarn and pattern bundles at a special price!

Week 3 Kickstarter Update — A quiet Christmas hello 🎄
Hello lovely people,
We hope you’ve had a gentle, cosy Christmas, full of warmth, good food, and maybe a little time with needles in hand.
Thank you again for all the support, messages, and quiet encouragement you’ve shared with us over the past few weeks. It’s meant a great deal, especially at this time of year.
As we move into the space between Christmas and New Year, we wanted to share a calm Week 3 update, not a push, just a window into what’s been happening behind the scenes.
Colour palette samples & lab work
Just before Christmas, we received our first colour palette samples back from the lab. This stage is all about subtlety: how colours behave on the fibre, how they sit next to one another, and how they feel in natural light rather than on a screen.
We’re now reviewing these carefully — checking depth, warmth, and balance — and feeding notes back into the lab process. Some shades are already very close; others need small adjustments.
Choosing colours & patterns — your input
In early January, we’ll be sending out a short questionnaire to backers. This will let you:
- Choose your preferred colours.
- Explore and choose our proposed designs through illustrations and design notes.
- Help us understand and give feedback on how you want to combine yarn and projects.
More details on this very soon.
A moment of thanks
Finally, we just want to say thank you for being part of this at such a reflective time of year. The days after Boxing Day always feel a little quieter, a little more inward-looking — and that feels like exactly the right mood for where Orry Yarn is right now.
We’ll be back in touch soon with the questionnaire and further updates. Until then, we hope you have a peaceful end to the year.
Woolly Hugs
Thilde & Stephen

Latest Update 19th December
Week 2 Kickstarter Update - Thank you!
We’re still a bit stunned (in the best way): Orry Yarn is already fully funded, and we’ve moved well beyond our original goal. Thank you for backing this wee Scottish yarn dream, it means a lot.
This week we are shifting from “we made it!” to “let’s make it brilliant”, planning the first production run, confirming the kit details, and getting organised for samples and pattern work once the yarn arrives.
Where we’re at right now:
- Funding target hit and we’re into stretch territory adding more bundles to the Kickstarter
- Production planning underway (yarn + kits + fulfilment)
- Patterns & samples queued up for the moment the yarn lands
- A short video update (above)
If you’re curious, have a look at the Kickstarter rewards and share the campaign with a pal who’d love modern Scottish colour and design.

Latest Update 8th December
Thank you so much for all your backing so far!
We are very excited about our yarn and our designs and we will have lots of details and updates to share in the coming weeks.
First of all here are some technical basics about our first run of yarn:
- 100% Merino
- 50 gram ball (to British Standard weights)
- Approximately 115 metres
- 2/4.6 Nm (this means it is a 2 strand twist but DK thickness)
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Sign up to our mailing list below for weekly newsletters.
We will be publishing a short video this week too!
