PetiteKnit Ivy Cape - Knitting Kit

The Ivy Cape is worked seamlessly from the top down. Shoulder increases come first, then a second section of increases down the yoke, with short rows shaping the neckline. There are no sleeves and nothing to seam, so it is a quicker project than it looks.
We have made it up in Sandnes Garn Kos, a chainette spun from 62% baby alpaca, 9% wool and 29% nylon. PetiteKnit name Kos in the pattern itself, so this is their own recommendation rather than a substitution of ours. At 150 m to a 50 g ball it knits quickly on 5 mm needles, and the chainette construction keeps it light, which matters on a piece that sits across the shoulders.

The increases change from shoulder shaping to yoke shaping partway through, and there are German short rows at the neck. Nothing beyond that, and no sleeves to set in.
Sizes: small (medium) large. Shoulder width approx. 40 (42.5) 46 cm.
Cape circumference: approx. 143 (156) 170 cm.
Length: 50 (55) 60 cm, measured mid back. PetiteKnit recommend it ends at the bend of your elbow, and the length can be adjusted to suit you.
Gauge: 16 stitches and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stocking stitch on 5 mm needles.

Choosing your size
Go by shoulder width rather than bust, since a cape sits rather than fits. The length is yours to decide as you knit, so if you want it longer than the given measurement, allow for an extra ball.
