The Sophie Scarf is worked back and forth in one piece, from tip to tip in garter stitch with built-in i-cord edges. The smaller size Sophie Scarf reaches around the neck once, while the larger size can wrap around the neck twice.
Sizes: small (large)
Length from tip to tip: approx. 80 (102) cm [31½ (40¼) inches]
Width at center: 11 (13) cm [4¼ (5) inches]
Gauge: 22 sts x 42 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in garter stitch on a 3.5 mm [US4] needle
Suggested Needles: a pair of 3.5mm knitting needles or 3.5 mm [US4] / 60 cm [24 inches] circular needle.

Suggestion 1: 50 (100) g Pure DK by WYS (50 g = 112 m [122 yds]) or Alpaca Classic by Rowan (50 g = 130 m [142 yds]) or 50 (50) g Baby Cashsoft Merino by Rowan (50 g = 130 m [142 yds]) or Fine Tweed Haze by Rowan (50 g = 215 m [235 yds])
Suggestion 2: 50 (50) g Merino by Knitting for Olive (50 g = 250 m [273 yds]) held together with 25 (25) g Soft Silk Mohair by Knitting for Olive (25 g = 225 m [246 yds])
NB the following yarn suggestions are for worsted and aran weight yarns that will create a slightly larger scarf and we recommend using 4-4.5mm needles.
Suggestion 3: 50 (50) g Kid Classic by Rowan (50 g = 140 m [153 yds]) - change needle size to 4.5 mm
Suggestion 4: 50 (50) g Kos by Sandnes Garn (50 g = 140 m [153 yds]) or 100 (100) g Fable by WYS (100 g = 166 m [181 yds]) - change needle size to 4.5 mm
