PetiteKnit – Vega Sweater Knitting Kit

Designed by Mette Wendelboe Okkels – PetiteKnit

The Vega Sweater is worked from the top down. The upper back yoke is worked first with short rows and increases, then the shoulders are worked from stitches picked up along the back yoke. A plain, roomy sweater with a generous amount of positive ease and ribbed edges.

We have put this kit together in Orry Yarn Merino DK, our own 100% merino spun for crisp stitch definition. Vega is almost entirely stocking stitch, so the yarn is doing all of the work. Merino DK gives it a smooth, even fabric and the palette is drawn from the west-coast landscape.

Vega is knitted at a tight gauge for a DK, on 3mm needles. It is a long project and the fabric is dense and hardwearing as a result.

Sizes

XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL (5XL). See Choosing your size below.

Gauge

23 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10cm [4 x 4in] in stocking stitch on 3mm needles.

The Kit Includes

  • Orry Yarn Merino DK in your chosen shade and size
  • Ravelry PDF download of the pattern, plus a printed copy of the pattern

Please add your Ravelry name in the order notes so we can add the pattern to your Ravelry account.

You'll Also Need

  • 3mm circular needles, 40cm, 60cm and 80cm or 100cm
  • 2.5mm circular needles, 40cm and 80cm or 100cm
  • 3mm and 2.5mm double-pointed needles, unless you work Magic Loop
  • Wool needle
  • Scissors

A note on the needles

The 40cm circulars are for the sleeves and neck edge. If you prefer Magic Loop you can leave the double-pointed needles out, but you will want the longer cables in both sizes.

Choosing your size

Vega is designed with approximately 22cm [8¾in] of positive ease. Measure around the widest part of your upper body and choose the size that gives you that.
