The Hebden Shawl is an asymmetric garter stitch shawl worked in three tonal shades of Bramble & Fleece Sheepsoft DK. The piece uses simple increases to create its triangular shape, with a long striped sequence that carries you through the knit without ever needing to count a chart.
Because it is garter stitch throughout, every row is the same and there is no right-side or wrong-side pattern to keep track of. All the interest comes from the stripe sequence and the natural tonal shift between the three shades, which makes it a genuinely relaxing knit and a good first shawl.

Which yarn does the Hebden Shawl use?
Hebden is written for Bramble & Fleece Sheepsoft DK, a blend of soft British Bluefaced Leicester with hardier Masham in 100g hanks. You will need four hanks in total across three shades, so it is an ideal pattern for using up a small tonal set.
Is this a good first shawl?
Yes. Garter stitch only, worked flat, with increases at one edge to build the asymmetric triangle. The only new skill for most knitters is joining a new colour, and the striped sequence is written out row by row.
