Bramble & Fleece

Bramble & Fleece is a British wool brand spun in Yorkshire, and the newest addition to The Orry Mill. Like our own Orry Yarn, it comes from Laxtons of Baildon, a mill that has been spinning natural fibre yarns since 1907, and it is built on a simple idea: British fibre, spun in Britain, with the provenance written on the ball band.
The range runs across three families. Sheepsoft blends soft British Bluefaced Leicester with hardier Masham for everyday knitting, in 4 Ply, DK, Aran and the featherlight chainette Fibreknit — and travels from fleece to finished yarn in under fifty miles. Wooltrace takes provenance further still, with a QR code on every hank that traces the wool back to the farm it came from and guarantees fair payment to the farmer: the 4 Ply is 100% Bluefaced Leicester, the DK 100% British Romney. Origin is the undyed collection for dyers and spinners, twelve bases across Bluefaced Leicester, Masham, Wensleydale, Gotland, Corriedale and mohair.
Bramble & Fleece also publish their own pattern collection — twenty-four designs written specifically for these yarns, from beginner snoods and drop-sleeve sweaters to seamless cabled slipovers and eight-colour Fair Isle. Shop the yarn, the patterns, or both together as a kit.
