York Tank is a V-neck slipover worked in two strands of Bramble & Fleece Sheepsoft DK held together. The slipover features a ribbed hem, armbands and neck trims, making it an ideal layering piece over a shirt or a fine-gauge sweater.
Holding the DK double takes the yarn up to a chunky 16-stitch tension, so the tank grows fast — most knitters finish it in a weekend or two — while the doubled strands give the fabric a dense, sculptural quality that holds the V-neck shape beautifully.

York is written for Bramble & Fleece Sheepsoft DK, a blend of soft British Bluefaced Leicester with hardier Masham, in 100g hanks — held double to reach a chunky gauge. You will need 5 to 7 hanks depending on size.
What does "held double" mean?
You knit with two strands of the same yarn at once, treating them as a single thicker yarn. Wind two balls or work from both ends of a centre-pull hank. It is the fastest way to get a chunky fabric from a DK you already love the colour of.
