Which yarn does the Ilkley Scarf use?
Ilkley is written for Bramble & Fleece Wooltrace DK, a 100% British Romney DK at 225m per 100g hank, traceable to the individual farm by the QR code on the ball band. Romney's long staple and crisp handle suit stranded colourwork particularly well: the houndstooth reads sharply and the floats sit flat once blocked. You will need two hanks of each of two contrasting shades — 400g in total.
How hard is the colourwork?
The chart is only four stitches and four rows, worked flat rather than in the round, so both right-side and wrong-side rows are stranded. If you are comfortable carrying two colours and managing tension on a purl row, the repeat itself is very simple.
