Wensleydale is one of the great lustre longwools, and Origin 005 shows exactly why dyers seek it out. The staple is long, curly and remarkably glossy, and spun fine like this it produces a yarn with a silk-like sheen that catches the light in a way shorter-stapled wools cannot. That lustre is also what makes it take dye so brilliantly - colours land clear and luminous rather than chalky.
Perfect for shawls, lace and fine-gauge accessories where drape and shine matter more than elasticity. Wensleydale has less bounce than a Down breed, so it hangs beautifully but is not the choice for close ribbing. Undyed it is a warm natural white with visible shine.
