Sorrel Poncho

Design BF013 · Bramble & Fleece Autumn/Winter Collection

Sorrel is a poncho worked in Bramble & Fleece Wooltrace 4 Ply with a soft roll neck. Knitted in the round from the hem in four complementary shades, it features a textured striped design that adds subtle visual interest. Its generous shape makes it easy to layer over jackets or knitwear.

Because it is worked in the round from the hem up, there are no seams and no purl rows across the body — just continuous knitting with colour changes to keep it interesting. The three accent shades appear as narrow textured stripes against the main colour.

Which yarn does the Sorrel Poncho use?

Sorrel is written for Bramble & Fleece Wooltrace 4 Ply, a 100% British Bluefaced Leicester fingering weight at 220m per 50g hank, traceable to the farm by QR code. You will need 7 to 8 hanks in total across four shades.

Do I need to know how to knit in the round?

Yes — the whole poncho is worked in the round on circular needles, and you will move between four cable lengths as the piece narrows towards the neck. Joining without twisting and using a marker for the start of the round are the only round-knitting skills required.

This is a digital knitting pattern supplied as a PDF download in English, with UK and US needle sizes and both metric and imperial measurements. Yarn and needles are sold separately.
