Tansy Bandana

Design BF018 · Bramble & Fleece Autumn/Winter Collection

Knitted in Bramble & Fleece Wooltrace DK, the Tansy Bandana features a classic bandana shape and colourwork pattern in shades of blue against a background of cream. Lightweight yet warm, this piece can be worn alone or with outerwear.

The bandana is one of the most useful accessories to knit: it takes only a single hank of the main shade plus small amounts of three accents, and it sits flat under a coat collar in a way a scarf never quite does. The three blues give a graded, tonal effect against the Ecru ground.

Which yarn does the Tansy Bandana use?

Tansy is written for Bramble & Fleece Wooltrace DK, a 100% British Romney DK at 225m per 100g hank, traceable to the individual farm by QR code. Romney holds a crease and a shape well, which is what lets a knitted bandana sit flat under a collar rather than rucking up. One hank of Ecru plus small amounts of three accent shades is all you need.

What techniques does it use?

Stranded colourwork worked flat, knit into the front and back for increases, and slipped stitches worked purlwise with the yarn held front or back. All special abbreviations are written out in full in the pattern.

This is a digital knitting pattern supplied as a PDF download in English, with a colour chart, UK and US needle sizes and both metric and imperial measurements. Yarn and needles are sold separately.
